Mark Smith Studio Pottery Salt Glaze Jug

This fantastic jug presages Mark Smith's transition, from about the year 2000, to handbuilt models and away from salt glaze and is quite unlike his quiet earlier salt glaze work. 
It still shows his mastery of the technique, with the inky blue finish characteristic of his salt glaze work.
The jug marked on the footrim with Mark's impressed stamp for 1995-2009.
Mark Smith (born 1964) established a career as a salt glaze potter, from 1994 working from Green Gate Pottery near Ashbourne in Derbyshire. From about 2000 he moved away from salt glaze to hand built models of humorous boats fish, etc.  He ceased making salt glazed pottery in 2005.
Size: 31cm from base to top of spout.
Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration.
